Chess Club
Join us for a casual game, or enter our continuing ladder tournament and see how many opponents you can knock down a rung. You do not need to register for the chess club: you can just show up.
Anime Club
Join us for anime, manga, cosplay, and Japanese culture. Note that we are switching to Tuesdays starting in January. Teens in grades 7-12 do not need to register for the anime club: you can just show up.
Teen Board Meeting
Our Teen Board will meet each month at 5:30pm on the third Thursday of the month. Thu, Jan 15th at 5:30pm, Thu, Feb 19th at 5:30pm, and Thu, Mar 19th at 5:30pm.
Movie Day
Watch an animated feature film on our screen. Sat, Jan 31st at 2pm.
Anime Club Thursdays
[manga-style drawing of a boy] Join us the second Thursday of each month to watch anime, discuss manga and graphic novels, learn about Japanese culture, and more. For teens in grades 7-12. Cosplay is optional. New members are always welcome. There is no need to register: you can just show up.
Short Parody Film Festival
Any teen or group of teens can make a three-to-five-minute parody film, and we will watch and judge them together on Saturday, January 24th. You may parody a music video, book, movie, TV show, or something else. Completed films should be appropriate for teen viewing (no nudity or profanity) and must be submitted by Thursday, January 22th. Contact Heather for submission details. If you don't want to make a film but would like to view the submissions, you are also welcome to attend. Registration is required, so sign up now.
Make-It/Take-It Calendar Craft
Mark that date on your calendar. What's that, you don't have one? Well you have come to the right place. Replace that Post-It note mess on your fridge with a calendar for 2015. This calendar will help you keep track of those notes, and it looks great. We provide supplies so that you can make it with your own flair. Ditch the cookie cutter calendars from the store: make a free one with us instead. Thu, Jan 22nd at 6pm.
Movie Day
The children's department will be showing a feature-length family film about dolphins. Popcorn and punch will be served. Registration is required for this event: call or stop by the library to sign up. This movie day is for kids in grades K-6. Remember to bring your blanket and pillow. Sat, Jan 17th at 2pm.
Polar Bears and Penguins (K-2)
Join us for stories and crafts featuring our favorite winter animals. Registration is required: call or stop by the library to sign up. Sat, Feb 7th, 2-3:30pm.
Chocolate Mug Cakes for Kids (Grades 3-6)
We will be making mug cakes and other goodies. Registration is required: call or stop by the library to sign up. Sat, Feb 21st, 2-4pm.
Scrabble Night

All skill levels are welcome, but you must be 18 years or older to play. This event is free, but registration is required since space is limited. Call the library or stop by the main desk to sign up. Winter Games Club
The chess club has become a games club. We will still have chess available, but we also now invite others to join in and play other board games and card games. Bring your own game or play one of ours. New members in grades 4-12 are invited to join at any time. Refreshments are provided. You do not need to register for the games club: you can just show up.
Food for Fines
[stock photo of canned food] The library will offer a Food for Fines promotion during the month of February. If you have outstanding library fines, you can receive forgiveness. Simply bring non-perishable food items to the library in February, to be donated to a local food bank. For each complete item you bring in, we'll knock a dollar off your fines. (Please note that we cannot accept outdated items, damaged or opened items, partial items, items not labeled for individual resale or missing portions of their packaging, etc. All donated food must be in a condition suitable for distribution.)
Apron-Free Cooking
We are planning a cooking demonstration with Irish recipes. There will be samples. Watch this space for more information. Sat, Feb 28th.
Great Chocolate Bake-Off

Weather Closing

Tax Forms
Currently we have copies of the federal 1040, 1040A, and 1040EZ; the Ohio IT-1040 and the instructions for it; and the school district tax form. We also have one (1) reference copy of the IRS 1040 instructions, at the desk. Unfortunately, the IRS has informed us that they will not be sending us copies of the instruction booklets or other forms to distribute this year. We do have the reproducible photocopy-forms book.
Seussibration
Join us for stories, crafts, and other activities related to everyone's favorite author, Dr. Seuss. For grades K-2. Registration is required: sign up now. Sat, Mar 7th, 2-3:30pm.
Life-Sized Clue

It's time for our always popular Fancy Nancy Tea Party. We'll read fancy stories, make fancy crafts, and end the afternoon with a fancy parade and, of course, a fabulously fancy tea party. Fancy attire is encouraged but not required. For grades K-2. Sign up now. Sat, May 2nd, 2-3:30pm.
Mystery South of the Border
Stop in the library any time between May 1st and May 15th to solve The Mystery South of the Border. An important item has been stolen, and it's up to you to find it. All junior sleuths that complete all of the puzzles and solve the mystery will receive a prize and an invitation to our party on Saturday, May 16th.
Staying Alive: A Murder Mystery
Put on your best disco attire and join us for pizza and an after-hours mystery. For ages 12-18. Preregistration is required. If you would like to be a suspect, you should register as soon as possible. (Space will also be available for non-suspects.) Fri, Mar 13th, 7-10pm.
Movie Afternoon

Our book chat is at 10am on the last Friday of the month.
Birding 101
If you want to get into calming backyard bird watching or to start serious life-list counters, then come learn the ins and outs of this popular hobby. Josh Dyer will cover the basics of birdwatching to get you on the path to identifying every bird that you see and hear. The program will consist of a PowerPoint presentation followed by a short quiz to test your knowledge of common backyard birds. The library board meets at the library at 4pm on the third Monday of each month.
